November 4th, 2022: Yesterday's monthly Oakdale Area Chamber of Commerce Luncheon. Guess Speaker topic was mental health. Other luncheon highlights were the Oakdale's Chamber $2,500 donation to Tartan HS for Career Pathways Development and luncheon sponsor CDA Community Development Agency new "What's next CEO". This program is free to our businesses as a resource to gain skills to grow their business.
November 2nd, 2022: Yesterday's County Board of Commissioners meeting and Workshops. Our Board meeting highlights were entertaining into a partnership agreement with Woodbury's Central Park remodeling project and county employee Yvonne Klinnert recognition of her achieving a lifetime Communications Award. Our Workshops were on the topics of reviewing Watershed District budgets and a potential Land and Water Legacy property acquisition.
November 1st, 2022: I'm honored by Oakdale City Council Member Kevin Zabel's endorsement. It is especially meaningful because Kevin will be elected Oakdale's next Mayor on November 8th.

October 31st, 2022: Today we Celebrated the recent opening of County 13 (Ideal Ave) with a ribbon cutting ceremony. This expanded and safer County Road with new pedestrian trails will serve the growing communities of Oakdale and Lake Elmo particularly the new 3M large site housing project
October 30th, 2022: Yesterday's drug take back drop off was a big success with several 100 lbs of unused prescriptions dropped off for safe disposal.
October 28th, 2022: Coming soon to your Washington County District 2 residence is a literature piece focused on Oakdale, a 2nd literature piece focused on Woodbury, and a 3rd literature piece focused on the Mahtomedi area. I ask for your vote!
October 27th, 2022: Today was our joint Ramsey-Washington Recycling & Energy Board meeting. We continue to make progress to add organics to our recycled materials list.
October 26th, 2022: Yesterday's Board meeting and Workshop was a light agenda day. A couple highlights were our County investments being made in our County Stillwater Historic Courthouse and Northern Hazardous Waste Facility and yard waste site.
October 20th, 2022: TAB Transportation Advisory Board meeting and Executive Committee meeting yesterday. Both meetings were long and intense as we study regional recommendations for the federal 2022 regional funding.

October 18th,2022: Woodbury Chamber of Commerce Ribbon Cutting today for new Woodbury Lakes restaurant "Hazelwood ". The ribbon cutting had a big turnout and our community is excited about this new eating establishment.
October 18th, 2022: Short County Board of Commissioners meeting this morning. A meeting highlight was the recognition of Sergeant David Stumpner awarded Minnesota Sheriff's Association Correctional Supervisor of the Year. Congratulations Sergeant Stumpner!
October 17th, 2022: I attended my AMC Association of Minnesota Counties District 10 Board meeting. We had two presentations involving good projects that Washington County are participating in.
In the afternoon I had a TAB Transportation Advisory Board preparation meeting with our County Staff. Our County is doing good things!

October 10th, 2022: Today we had nice attendance for a ribbon cutting ceremony for the opening of a new stretch of County 12/old 244 through Mahtomedi. This new stretch goes west from downtown Mahtomedi/Willernie to Century Ave/East County Line. The road has many new safety features such as sidewalks and crosswalks. Our County did excellent work building this new road and it was delivered about 6 weeks early!
October 6th, 2022: Chamber Day! This morning I attended Woodbury Area Chamber of Commerce monthly "Good Morning Woodbury" hosted by new business MN Spine and Sport.
This afternoon I attended the Oakdale Area Chamber of Commerce Luncheon that featured "Oakdale's State of the City Address"
I also gave the members a County update with one of the highlights the nearly completed CSAH 13 (picture) that will support the new 1400 home 3M site development.
As a Commissioner its not required to join Chambers but I believe it's the correct thing to do so I'm aware and can be supportive of the business community.

October 5th, 2022: Being a County Commissioner has very diverse responsibilities and activities. These were some of my main activities the past 24 hours.
1. Last evening I joined the Oakdale City Council and community leaders on a development tour.
2. Also last evening I gave a County update to the Pine Springs City Council.
3. This morning I attended with our County Board an appreciation breakfast for our employees achieving service anniversaries beyond 20 years working for our County.

It was a nice evening attending Thursdays Farm Bureau meeting that I am a member of. Washington County currently is about 50% in acreage agricultural. Fellow Commissioner Fran Miron is a several generation farmer in Hugo and is a leader with farm causes. It was an honor to attend and sit at the same table with State Representative Detmer and State Senators Housley and Bigham.

September 29th 2022: It was an excellent event today attending the 2022 Leaders in Local Government Awards Luncheon organized by the St. Paul Chamber with many other participating Chambers, cities, and elected attending. I was honored to be seated at a table with the entire Oakdale City Council. Mayor Paul Reinke was awarded the 2022 Elected Official of Note. Congratulations Mayor on your very deserved recognition!

September 22nd 2022: Third and final day of the annual Minnesota Transportation Alliance. It was an honor representing Washington County with fellow Commissioner Johnson and our County Staff to meet with our Congress members and review our much needed County road projects.

September 16th 2022: 3rd and final day of the AMC Policy Conference. Very informative 3 days.
September 15th 2022: Day two of the AMC Association of Minnesota Counties Policy Conference. General Session panel discussions on the topics of "Property Tax Assessments" and "Elections Integrity". I also attended my "Transportation & Infrastructure" Committee meetings. During lunch we had Governor Candidates address AMC.
September 14th 2022: Busy 1st day of the AMC Association of Minnesota Counties Fall Policy Conference. In addition, this afternoon I virtually attended my MICA Minnesota Inter-County Association Board meeting and an executive committee meeting for EMS East Metro Strong. Life is good!
September 13th 2022: Tonight I attended the annual and popular City of Oakdale sponsored "Touch a Truck" event. Several hundred children with their families showed up to sit in and check out their favorite heavy equipment. Besides City heavy equipment I was happy to see the private sector providing equipment and our County provided many pieces of equipment for the kids to check out.
September 13th 2022: Tuesday was County Board of Commissioners Board meeting and Workshops day. See agenda for details. The highlight of the day is we are getting very close to approving a 2023 County Budget.
September 10th 2022: Thursday evening I participated in a District 2 County Commissioner Forum sponsored by LWV the League of Women Voters. My opponent did not participate. I did participate and enjoyed the opportunity to talk about our county and accomplishments.

September 8th 2022: Yesterday we celebrated with our County Board, Staff, and honored guest Congresswoman Betty McCollum the construction of Central Greenway Corridor. This trail will accommodate walkers and bikers the length of our County 40 miles from Cottage Grove Ravine Regional Park to Big Marine Regional Park. Congresswoman McCollum was instrumental in appropriating $1 million federal dollars to this significant trail project.
September 6th 2022: County Board meeting and Workshop day. Board meeting highlights were a resolution recognizing "Workforce Development Month" and a Sheriff's Office presentation and resolution recognizing "National Preparedness Month".

September 4th 2022: Earlier this week I participated in a St.Paul Chamber event for east metro elected and candidates. Thank you St. Paul Chamber!
August 5th 2022; Attended a MAWB Minnesota Association of Workforce Boards Conference on Thursday and Friday. It's always good to share best practices for Workforce Development with dedicated professionals from across our state. As a Commissioner one of my focus areas is Workforce Development.
August 24th 2022: Yesterday evening at the Oakdale City Council meeting I was honored to introduce Kevin Magnuson our new County Attorney to the city council and cable viewing citizens. Attorney Magnuson covered how his office will hold criminals accountable!
While at the council meeting Oakdale was awarded an upgraded credit rating Aa1. Congratulations City Council and Staff for this accomplishment.

August 23rd 2022: County Board of Commissioners meeting and Workshops day. Relatively short board meeting followed by 4 robust Workshops. 3 of these workshops presented County Department 2023 Budgets and the other workshop was review of search prospects for a County Central Yard Waste site.

April 18-19th: Busy Day: All morning AMC Association of Minnesota Counties virtual Board meeting. Then a in person White Bear Lake Chamber Luncheon. A mid-afternoon virtual NACO National Association of Counties Land Use Policy Steering Committee meeting reviewing Davis-Bacon Act. Always emails to take care with any available open time in between activities.

August 17th 2022: This afternoon I attended my TAB Transportation Advisory Board monthly meeting and also a TAB Executive Committee meeting.
In the morning two more County Board interviews of talented candidates applying for positions on the Library Advisory Board. Our County libraries are more popular than ever.

August 16th 2022: Our wonderful Sheriff's Office helped out 10 young students and families with back to school learning supplies. I was proud to join the shopping and witness one of many good deeds our Sheriff's Office does regularly beyond good policing.
August 16th 2022: Workshop Day at the government center in Stillwater. Our County Board reviewed two very critical and important 2023 Budgets this morning. They were our County Attorney and Sheriff's Budgets.
In the afternoon we held Library Advisory Board interviews for two openings. We have 8 very good candidates to interview. We held 4 interviews this afternoon.

August 10th 2022: Just completed a tour of our joint County Newport Recycling and Energy Facility to see our new robotic organics recycling capability under construction. Touring was our entire Washington County Board of Commissioners and several Ramsey County Commissioners. Hosting was both our County Staff's. We can take pride in this facility upgrade helping put less garbage in the ground and more of it recycled thus improving our environment.
August 11th 2022: Toured the new County 12/old 244 approximately 1+ mile stretch west of downtown Mahtomedi/Willernie. This new road is about 50% complete. Our County hosted the tour and Commissioner Miron and I were joined by Mahtomedi City Council member Dick Brainard, Willernie Mayor Barbara Parent, and City and County Staff. The tour was timed with construction activity on the large new culvert going under the road and connecting both sides of lost lake. This difficult and challenging road project so far has had no DNR violations for work completed in a very sensitive environmental area.
August 10th 2022: MICA (Minnesota Inter-County Association) virtual Executive Committee meeting and regular Board meeting today. I'm proud to have been the Vice President of this multi-county organization for the past 2+ years.
August 9th 2022: Started the day as my 2nd meeting as Chair of our Regional Rail Authority. This meeting roles into our regular County Board of Commissioners meeting and Workshops. Light Board meeting this morning with robust discussions at our budget workshops.

August 3rd 2022: Night to Unite - I was able to visit 8 different neighborhood gatherings in 4 different cities I represent in District 2. Everyone was so fun, welcoming, and caring about their neighbors. I was also able to meet so many new and see so many I already know. Even running into Oakdale Councilmembers Kevin Zabel and Jake Ingebrigtson.

This afternoon was my MICA Minnesota Inter-County Association Board meeting. Our Board reviewed MICA's Legislative Platform relative to how the Legislative Session is progressing.

March 6th 2022: Last Thursday I finished up my 2 day AMC Association of Minnesota Counties Legislative Conference. My main focus for the day was participating in my Transportation and Infrastructure Committee that I am a member.
February 19th: Busy-busy week. topped off by today's virtual AMC Board meeting, Commissioner County Road 13 rebuild review with Staff and Lake Elmo Mayor. Valley Branch Watershed District Interviews, and my day ended with review and discussion of our County Vaccination plans with our partnering school districts.

February 17th: Full and diverse virtual day: Starting with a 8:00 AM Staff meeting to evaluate a possible central yard waste drop-off site. 8:30 AM County Workforce Development Board meeting. 11:00 AM TAB Transportation Advisory Executive Board meeting. Noon - short notice Met Council Transportation Funding meeting. 1:00 PM joined my regular TAB meeting in process. My day of productive formal meeting ended with a 3:15 PM Staff meeting.

February 10th: Today I participated virtually in my MICA Minnesota Inter-County Association Board meeting with fellow Washington County Commissioner Wayne Johnson. Our meetings have a strong emphasis on our State Legislature and session activities. The picture of the agenda lists those activities.

I also attended the County Finance Committee meeting Chaired by Commissioner Wayne Johnson who is the new chair starting in 2021. There was an Oakdale item on the agenda and I also observed discussion on bonding for the Recycling and Energy Facility improvements.

Attended and participated with fellow Commissioner Lisa Weik last evening in a late night Woodbury City Council Workshop update on the Gold Line BRT. The Council had a thorough review and discussion regarding this transit project. I participated virtually.
July 22nd: A County tour of elected, staff, and Valley Branch Watershed District members to see flooded roads and properties. This current flooding is caused primarily by 10 years of record precipitation and development affects. This flooding is very traumatic to these home owners. Plans for correction are underway or is being considered.
Today was our Gold Line BRT Joint Powers Board meeting. This Bus Rapid Transit project is a joint collaboration effort between Ramsey and Washington Counties that will serve east St. Paul, east metro, and Washington County. It is an honor serving with fellow Commissioners Weik, McDonough, and Ortega on this Joint Powers Board.

July 20th: Busy day of virtual significant meetings. The 1st meeting was the NACO National Association of Counties Annual business meeting. I was honored to be our Counties voting delegate. The 2nd meeting was an AMC Association of Minnesota Counties EDWH Economic Development Workforce Housing Committee that I serve on.
July 16th: Participated today in a sneak peek of the new Wildwood Library with the local area Mayors and fellow Commissioner Fran Miron. This is an amazing, attractive, and functional new library. Many great features and the use of new energy saving and producing technology such as solar phone and laptop charging. We listened to the community and made features in the Library meet their expectations and needs. We even have a historical mural of the communities past.

July 15th: A new beautiful Washington County "Wildwood" Library is opening July 20th. I am very proud to have worked with the local residents and community leaders to build a library that meets the community needs. Check it out!
July 14th: Today's County Board meeting most significant topic was accepting and outlining the CARES Act funding. In general the funding will be used for aid of citizens and businesses in need. 4X Workshops followed our Board meeting and covered CARES Act funding for food and housing needs and the other two Workshops covered a Commission structure issue and a new parks XC skiing pass.
In the evening I participated in a Birchwood Village City Council update on the Lakes Link trail in development that will go around White Bear Lake.

July 9th: Attended tonight's Virtual Park and Open Space Commission meeting. We had a robust agenda and meeting discussion tonight. One reason why our County Parks are great is because of the input and effort of our citizens!
July 8th: Today I had my MICA Minnesota Inter-County Association Executive Committee meeting followed by our MICA Board meeting. A lot of time was reviewing and discussing the upcoming Legislative Special Session. I am proud to serve as Vice-President of MICA.
Also, early this evening I supported our weekly Wednesday Oakdale Farmers Market located in the City Hall parking lot. Tonight at the market I purchased home made bread and snap peas. Both very fresh!

July 7th: Today we held our County Board Meeting and a Workshop. Our Board meeting had a variety of action items. One of the items appointed me to the Election Canvassing Board for both the upcoming Primaries and General Elections.
At our Workshop our County Board had a robust discussion on the use of the federal CARES Act funding.
These meetings continue to have Staff using good distancing and the use of masks.
Lastly, I thank everyone again for all the caring thoughts and cards that I continue to receive recognizing the loss of my mother who passed away a few weeks ago. I could not resist showing a picture of a card I received today.

June 30th: Participated in a Lower Landing new Park Visitors Building Ground Breaking Ceremony with our entire County Board, locally elected, Staff, and our Park & Open Space Advisory Commission. This community building will be a great addition to this park that has growing popularity with recent other significant park improvements. Please check this park out for yourself!
June 28th: I have had the honor of serving on the MNDOT Variance Advisory Committee. Late last week I participated in our Variance review meeting evaluating 2 requests on rebuilt state road sections requesting variances for reduced speeds. I chaired this Committee and we supported both requests for designs with reduced speeds. I'm impressed with this review process, the talented engineers involved in these designs and the common sense MNDOT allows in the road design review.
June 23rd: Busy day: Started with a 8:15 AM Land and Water Legacy Workshop, followed by our County Board meeting, followed by a Yard Waste Workshop and ended activities at our County Government Center with a County Board of Appeals and Equalization meeting.
Then a Webex Region 4 Workforce meeting with Commissioners and County Staff from our 7 County Twin City area. The day ended with an evening County 13 Road Project Workshop with the Oakdale City Council and Staff. I would summarize today as productive and rewarding!

June 19th: Today I attended my AMC Association of Minnesota Counties Board of Directors meeting reviewing State wide County activities. I also attended with fellow Commissioner Johnson and our Staff a meeting with Woodbury Mayor Burt and City Staff. We had a very productive meeting with Woodbury reviewing progress on collaborative projects.

June 10th: Yard waste has been an important topic of the County Board with progress made in recent years. This week it has been a urgent County Board priority with the recent announcement of a private yard waste site closing soon. See memo for current details about County yard waste sites.
June 8th: Today I had time to check out Washington Counties St. Croix Bluffs Regional Park. Located on the beautiful St. Croix river. This park has everything. Some of the amenities are: River Boat Launch, Camping, Picnic Shelters, Modern bathroom and shower facilities, and abundant acreage and natural. I highly recommend you make a visit and check it out for yourself!
June 4th: Virtual meetings for the County Water Consortium and OACC Oakdale Area Chamber of Commerce. Both these groups have very talented members for the topics of our environment and businesses.
June 3rd: An amazing Food Drive 3 -7 PM today. Thank you Mark Hargis and your team of volunteers and food donors! Food will be delivered to those in need in South Minneapolis.
Full day Tuesday: County Board meeting followed by Workshop returned to Board Chamber with social distancing and masks used appropriately (see pics).

June 1st: Today I was looking forward to a haircut and also happy to support a local business to get this much overdue and needed professional haircut (picture). I thought about also showing a before haircut photo but my better judgement told me not to. I feel so much better with my fresh haircut, as i am sure many of you can relate to the same feeling!

May 29th: Today was our AMC District 10 Virtual meeting. County Commissioners from the 7 County Twin City area discussed a wide range of topics with a focus on current issues during these trying times.
May 28th: Today I checked out the new western entrance into Washington Counties Lake Elmo Regional Park. The entrance has parking and is located off Inwood Ave just south of Stillwater Ave. To park and enter all you need is a car park sticker. After parking the intent is walk or bike into the park trail system. This new entrance presents convenient access to this wonderful park from communities west of Lake Elmo park. Please check it out!
May 27th: Gold Line Joint Powers Board meeting today. This joint Washington-Ramsey County BRT project keeps moving positively forward. Our careful planning is intended to deliver a good transit product and another choice as a Transportation option.
May 26th: Today, Tuesday was our County Board of meeting and Workshop day. As usual we met with WebEx virtual technology. See agenda for meeting details. Next Tuesday June 2nd we will change to meeting in the County Board Chambers while applying safe distancing practices.
May 25th: Today as we commemorate Memorial Day, take time to think of those that served us in the military and gave the ultimate sacrifice. Please continue appreciative thoughts throughout the year and thank those serving our country and wish them safety.

May 21st: Today - Attended my County Park & Open Space Commission meeting. The meeting was virtual with a wide variety of environment and park projects were presented.

May 19th: Today I volunteered with other County Workers to deliver food in Oakdale to those in need. We could not have provided this nutritional food to several hundred people without "Fare for all" a nonprofit food group based in Stillwater donating the food. Our County is coordinating with many nonprofit food organizations to reach many families with food in our County that are in serious need caused by COVID-19.
May 18th:Today: Participated in a St. Paul Chamber of Commerce Webinar with Congresswoman Betty McCollum discussing potential federal COVID-19 relief. Also, had an EMS East Metro Strong Board Zoom meeting discussing the Legislative Session and its possible effects on our needs for the east metro.
May 15th: AMC Association of Minnesota Counties Virtual Board meeting today. Working with other County Commissioners across our State to strengthen our Counties.

May 12th: County Board "virtual" meeting and Workshop today, plus Birchwood Village Council "virtual" meeting tonight. A highlight of our Board meeting this morning was approving a new visitor park facility for the Cottage Grove Ravine Regional Park. This new public building has much thoughtful consideration for a COVID-19 healthy design. Our Workshop we reviewed the 2020 budget with emphasis on COVID-19 affects. Lastly, tonight myself and County Engineering presented detailed plans for the rebuild of the East County Line Road with new pavement, improved water runoff drainage, and improved pedestrian and biking safety. It was a full and positive day!

May 7th: Today I participated in virtual meetings from the safe distancing location of my home. The 1st meeting was a business Luncheon (provide your own lunch) with the OACC Oakdale Area Chamber of Commerce. I gave a County update at the luncheon focused on County pandemic activities and affects. The 2nd meeting was our Gold Line CMC Corridor Management Committee meeting with update presentations describing much progress occurring. Our CMC is comprised of elected, Met Transit staff, and citizens all contributing input and Gold Line BRT project direction. Although everyone participated in each meeting from a safe location, with good meeting preparation and the visual of participation meetings such as these are very effective.
May 6th: Attended today using WebEx our County Water Consortium meeting from my home. The talented participants protect and restore our natural environment.
May 5th: Two virtual conference remote meetings today. The 1st was our County Board meeting with many consent items and a Staff presentation and discussion for the new proposed Cottage Grove County Regional Park Facility.

April 29th: Virtual Zoom social time with the Chamber. Last week I had virtual time with the Woodbury Chamber.
April 28th: Today - County Board meeting and Workshop. Don't be alarmed by our Board Member picture because we met using WebEx from the safety of our homes.
April 27th: I participated today in an AMC Association of Minnesota Counties webinar with our Govenor Tim Walz getting an update on COVID-19 and its affect on our State and Counties.
April 23rd: Busy week so far participating in effective Zoom and WebEx video conferencing meetings such as Chairing a BRT Gold Line Joint Powers meeting, Chairing a GMWC Greater Metropolitan Workforce Council Council Recalibration Work Group meeting, participating in a County Board interview for a South Washington County Watershed District Board opening, participated in a Met Council Transit Study meeting, and the last significant meeting was my AMC Transportation & Infrastructure Policy Committee meeting. Also answering many constituent inquiries and now will begin preparing for next Tuesdays County Board meeting.
April 16th: Although employees and companies in Washington County are hurting financially during this pandemic they remain committed to helping our community. Check out the Pioneer Press story today featuring Oakdale's Fractional Toys who are providing housing through creative use of their recreational campers.
April 15th: Two WebEx meetings today. The 1st meeting was our County Workforce Development Board meeting and the 2nd meeting was my regional TAB Transportation Advisory Board meeting. Both meetings had much agenda discussion about the affect of COVID-19 on both our workforce and our Transportation systems. See agenda's and screen shot photos.
April 14th: I participated remotely in three WebEx County Board Workshops this morning. The 1st Workshop was discussing protecting water quality and resources on 5 naturally beautiful parcels totaling 200+ acres with the use of the voter approved Land and Water Legacy funds. The 2nd Workshop was an update on County business assistance programs related to the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic. The 3rd Workshop was a Federal and State Legislative update with much discussion about the affect of COVID-19 (see agenda and screen shot).
As a side note, this afternoon I had to make an essential errand and I sported my new COVID mask to wear while out. I had minimal people interaction on my errand and used social spacing. I am proud to say I have only been out of the house the past month about once a week (see masked picture of myself).

April 8th: MICA Minnesota Inter-County Association Board meeting today. The COVID-19 effect on State Legislative decisions and discussion about an anticipated larger bonding Bill than originally planned was a big part of our meeting discussion.
April 7th Today our County Board held our 1st Web-Ex remote County Board and Workshop meetings (see agenda). In my opinion because of COVID-19 precautions these remote meetings were very effective, productive, and successful. To assure we had a good 1st Web-Ex Board meeting we held advance Staff and Commissioner meetings to work out the bugs and train ourselves on Web-Ex skills.
Tonight I also participated in my ISD 622 Education Foundation Board meeting. Our main topic was how do we recognize student achievement for the top 10% of district seniors when our traditional and very popular month of May Staars Recognition Banquet cannot be held because of the COVID pandemic (see meeting screenshot). This Education Foundation Board I serve on is not a County Commissioner assignment but I'm a big believer when your elected you should participate and be involved in your community beyond your elected duties.

April 6th: Today, I participated in two remote from home Web-Ex meetings and one Zoom meeting. The Zoom meeting was our Regional Workforce Development effort with our GMWC Greater Metropolitan Workforce Council Council Recalibration Work Team. Workforce is particularly urgently challenged by the COVID-19 crisis and its immediate impact on employers and jobs. Tomorrow is a remote Web-Ex meeting for our County Board meeting and Workshops.

March 26th: Keeping busy working from home. Today Conference Call/Web-Ex, meetings for my MNDOT Variance Advisory Committee, GMWC Greater Metropolitan Workforce Council meeting preparation, and two NACO National Association of Counties Conference Call COVID-19 updates.
March 24th: County Board meeting today. Agenda was streamlined with more consent items, less in person presentations, and no Workshops (see agenda). A good portion of our Board meeting was staff updates on COVID-19 activities and Commissioner questions. Pictures show COVID-19 precautions such as cleanliness of surface areas, writing pens, 6 ft Board Chamber spacing for attendees and same for visitor area. Lastly, our Board participated in Web-Ex training in case we need to implement remote video Board meetings attendance and participation to further reduce COVID-19 virus spreading risk (screen picture).

March 18th: Today I had my monthly TAB Transportation Advisory Board meeting. Rather than our large Board meet in close confines in our regular location in the Metropolitan Council Chambers we held a Conference call meeting to be safer in preventing exposure to COVID-19. I believe full or close to full attendance participated. It was an effective meeting for Washington County highlighted by two items approved. The 1st item we approved a new bus route into Woodbury and the 2nd item we extended the Regional Solicitation deadline date so our County and others can submit solid Federal road and trail grant requests and not risk the immediate high priority challenges of keeping our communities safe from COVID-19 pandemic interference with a to near May deadline date. Our County thanks everyone involved for the support of this extended application deadline. See pictures of meeting agenda and added agenda item Extention Transmittal 2020-16.
March 17th: We held our County Board meeting and Workshops (see agenda) this afternoon and evening. As a COVID-19 precaution we reduced Board Chamber seating to assure 6ft between any persons attending and also adjusted our Commissioner Dais seating for 6ft spacing between Commissioners (see pictures). At our Board meeting we made a difficult decision and voted to suspend public-facing County services at our libraries and service centers. This action was taken to protect citizens and employees against the dangers of the COVID-19 virus. Services will continue to function while adapting to working within the parameters set by the COVID-19 pandemic. Our County asks for our citizens patience while we work through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
March 16th: COVID-19 has our County activities rapidly changing, especially from today and moving forward. I will explain – Today I had a morning meeting at a local small coffee shop with two County Staff members and Kevin Zabel who works for ARRM a nonprofit dedicated to the support and advancement of persons living with disabilities. We had a productive meeting discussing how ARRM can benefit our County and persons with disabilities. There were no handshakes and we had good distance separation for our meeting. My other two meetings for the day were cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns and conference calling was not an option. Tomorrow we have our Tuesday Board meeting and Workshops with precautions taken to alleviate COVID-19 concerns. For the rest of the week, many meetings are canceled to meet the rapidly evolving National, State, and County plans to combat COVID-19. Our County Board and Staff will be looking closely at rapidly evolving safe practices to serve people, provide services, and keep people safe.

March 9th: New Wildwood Library tour. It's an amazing Library scheduled to open in July.
March 6th: I was privileged to be voted onto the Presidential Primary Canvassing Board by our Washington County Board of Commissioners. Our Canvass Board met today to validate the accuracy of the primary through precinct vote total sampling. We checked vote totals for all candidates selecting random precincts in all of the County Commissioner Districts. We found no vote total errors or discrepancies. Other Statistics: County voter turnout 23.9%, Statewide turnout 26.3%. Washington County had the 2nd fastest metro area loading of vote totals with the State of Minnesota.
March 5th: The focus of the public open house was more to get resident feedback on 244. Our County was looking for input and ideas about safety crossings and trail connections. We had a very good turnout of residents with much interest in this road rebuild project to occur in 2020 & 2021.
March 4th: NACO day 5. Our final Legislative Conference day. More quality time on Capitol Hill attending a breakfast meeting with our entire Minnesota Congressional Delegation. Commissioner Weik and myself had a personal meeting with Congressman Tom Emmer to discuss our County priorities with particular focus on our Highway 36 Corridor that immediately affects Congress member Emmers constituents.
Tomorrow AM I return home to attend a late afternoon/evening public open house to get public comments on improving Highway 244 in Mahtomedi.

March 3rd: NACO Tuesday, day 4. An amazing Conference day spent on Capital Hill with our Washington County contingent of Commissioners Weik and Johnson and our Staff. We had great meetings with the Staffs of Senators Smith and Klobuchar and also a meeting with Congresswoman Craig. With these our legislators we emphasized our work and needs for the Gold Line BRT, 36 Corridor, and St. Croix Bluffs Regional Park. We also attended 2 sessions on Elections and Transportation. Federal Senators speaking were: Ben Cardin, Mike Braun, and Kyrsten Sinema. Federal Representatives speaking were: Zoe Lungren, Rodney Davis, Paul Gosar, Salud Carbajal, Sam Graves, and Chris Pappas. Tomorrow more good visits planned!
March 2nd: 3rd day of NACO Legislative Conference. Today I attended 4 Sessions and also a trip to the hill. A highlight of the sessions was hearing from HUD Secretary Ben Carson. Our visit to the hill was an appointment with Congresswoman Betty McCollum.

February 29th: 1st day of NACO Legislative Conference in Washington DC. My entire day was participating on the Community, Economic, & Workforce Development Policy Steering Committee that I am a member of. Local Ramsey County Commissioner Jim McDonough Chairs this National Committee and does a great job with leadership. Our Committee passed several Resolutions that go to Congress to be considered when considering and passing the Federal Budget.
February 27th: Attending 152nd Chamber's Annual Meeting. County Board Chairs participated in a panel discussion on economic opportunities. Washington County Board Chair Fran Miron did an excellent job representing our County on the panel. Overall an inspiring event for our East Metro Region.

February 26th: 3M Water Settlement public information and progress update meeting. Large citizen turnout listening, learning, and commenting. The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency hosted and facilitated this meeting.
Attended today the 1st day of a two day AMC Association of Minnesota Counties Conference. Our General Session Keynote Speaker was Governor Tim Walz. I also joined our AMC Executive Committee on a visit to Senate Minority Leader Susan Kent to discuss AMC statewide and Washington County priorities. I also visited House Representative Steve Sandell who represents part of my County District in Woodbury. It critical to stay in touch with our State elected officials.

February 24th: Big day for the effort of regional workforce development. I Chaired my 1st meeting for the GMWC Recalibration Work Team. Our diverse and talented team reviewed establishing shared principles and values.
February 19th: Attended my TAB Transportation Advisory Board meeting today. At the TAB meeting we recognized long time Fed-X employee and outgoing Board member Bill Goins with an appreciation plaque for his service on the Board representing commercial transportation.

February 18th: Today I participated in a CDA - Community Development Agency Board meeting. A meeting highlight was approving several Economic Development Grants for cities located in Washington County.

February 17th: I had a wonderful Cross Country Ski today in comfortable temperatures and on very well groomed trails. A lot of skiing remains this winter season so come check these trails out if you have not already. A lot of beautiful scenery and many miles of skiing with some lighted. I make better park investment decisions when I use the parks and check things out.

About 20 residents attended asking a wide range of questions on topics such as: Transit, Uninsured motorists, Climate change, Redistricting, Bonding, and Water. The State on MN and our County had representation attending to address the 3M water settlement. Also attending was fellow Commissioner Weik and Council members Olson, Zabel, and Peterson. It's very beneficial to attend these Town Halls and listen and learn from our Representatives and Constituents. I also had the good fortune to meet Wiger intern Sean Bearth related to Ted continuing on the family tradition of government involvement.

February 14th: Today our County Board and Staff had a very good informational lunch meeting with Congresswoman Betty McCollum.
Personally it also was a significant week for me because Wednesday we had a visit by Governor Tim Walz and on Monday I had a meeting with Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey.

February 12th: A robust and productive day as County Commissioner. It started with a 8:00 AM joint County meeting with Ramsey County and our Legislative Representatives discussing 120/Century road improvements. Then a visit from our Governor to our Newport Trash Facility to review investment bonding needs. The day ended with my MICA Board meeting with one highlight reviewing State Bonding Debt Capacity. A picture of a chart provided shows us at 3.3% debt to revenue ratio well below the national State average.
February 12th: This morning both Ramsey and Washington County hosted Governor Tim Walz on a tour of our joint Recycling and Energy Center located in Newport. This Legislative session is focused on bonding. Our bonding ask of the legislature is $20 million toward a $40 million facility investment upgrade need. Governor Walz is definitely supportive. Currently the dollar amount support is questionable. This facility upgrade is to meet State mandates. Our County Staff and Commissioner Wayne Johnson did a great job presenting our need.
February 11th:Tonight I attended a Presentation by our County Parks Department to the Woodbury Lions Club. County Parks employees Alex McKinney and Dan McSwain gave an excellent overview of our wonderful County Parks and Trail System.
It was great seeing friends and friendly faces that are Lions Club members in attendance. Commissioner Weik is an active member of the Woodbury Lions Club.

February 10th: A big day for the Regional Workforce Development. Starting early in the morning with our elected members and Workforce Managers from our GMWC (Greater Metropolitan Workforce Council) meeting with Minneapolis Mayor Frey to bring the Mayor up to date with our progress.
Then followed by our entire GMWC members meeting to pass a motion to move forward with a revisit of our membership and structure. Our GMWC is hopeful of making a positive and big impact for a better Workforce for our region.

February 8th: Today, Saturday afternoon I joined fellow Commissioner Lisa Weik in her District at Woodbury High School for a State Legislative Town Hall Meeting. Representatives Tou Xiong, Steve Sandell and Senator Susan Kent (Minority Leader) hosted the event and answered a wide variety of questions from a good turnout, attendance of about 50+ residents from the area. Most attending were constituents of Commissioner Weik and mine. Some of the most frequent asked questions were on the topics of: Employment, Seniors, Voting, and our Environment. The Legislators did a great job of answering all the questions with many very challenging. These Legislators represent my constituents in the cities of Woodbury, Oakdale, and Landfall.

February 6th: 3M Foundation guest speaker. Very interesting presentation. 3M (Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing) is a great community partner!
February 4th: This evening Linda and I attended a community Salute Dinner honoring those in public safety and the military who serve to protect us. Many citizens, elected, firefighters. Police, and veterans in attendance. It was a very moving program and evening.
Earlier this evening I participated in my 622 Education Foundation Board meeting. We have a great volunteer Board interested in the betterment of public education for our kids. I'm very proud to serve on this Board with my Daughter Kelly. See agenda

February 4th: County Board meeting and Workshop day today. See agenda at end of pictures.
The highlight of the day was attending 30 year employee Joel Loer's work anniversary party along with Commissioners Weik and Kriesel. Commissioner Kriesel did a great job reading and presenting Joel with a Proclamation from the County Board. Joel is a very valued employee at our County. See pictures

January 22nd: We had our monthly Gold Line BRT Joint Powers Board meeting today. Late last week we received great news with approval of the Environmental Review Phase. We are now preparing to enter the Engineering Phase. Our Gold Line joint Ramsey-Washington County project is 30% complete and continues to move forward on a steady and on schedule pace with many challenges throughout the project process.
January 21st: Tonight I attended an informative and well attended community presentation on food waste, food savings, and opportunities with our new County yard waste, organic composting sites.
January 21st: A memorable day serving as a Commissioner on the CDA Community Development Board. Chris Eng our County Economic Development Director was recognized State wide with the "Outstanding Economic Development Effort Award". Also, our CDA Board recognized CDA Executive Director Barbara Dacy who is leaving the County after 19 years leading the CDA.
Earlier in the day I participated in a NACO National Association of Counties Central Region Conference Call. Was updated and learned from our NACO staff and other Commissioners about Public Lands, and Health topics.

January 16th: Annual MICA (Minnesota Inter-County Association) meeting today and tonight. In addition to our board meeting we held a Legislative Forum (see participant sheet). We also had Guest Speaker Jodi Harpstead, Commissioner MN Dept of Human Services. It's always positive to formally present County priorities to legislators in person. I'm honored to be Vice President of MICA!

September 10th: Tuesday, Rail-Volution Transit Conference Day 3 - My final day attending. Participated in several workshops and also riding and learning from Vancouvers many modes of transit including boats. Learned a lot of transit ideas to investigate for our own planned Gold Line BRT transit system. Also, learned some transit don'ts and received reassurance in our Gold Line direction.

September 7th: It was my honor today to accept a "Partner of the Year Award" from the Minnesota Land Trust. As County Board Chair I accepted on behalf of our County Board and Staff.

September 7th: Thank you Commissioner Miron for hosting "Breakfast on the Farm". An amazing 2,000 approximate guests attended this event on your beautiful farm. To most people's this is a surprise, Washington county is over 50% in Agricultural acherage.
September 5th: Today was Chamber day. Attended my OACC Oakdale Area Chamber of Commerce Luncheon this afternoon. The guest speaker was our County Attorney's Office presentation on Sex Trafficking and effort to eliminate this behavior in our County. It was an excellent presentation and also my 2nd Chamber event of the day.
September 5th: This morning I attended a Woodbury Chamber of Commerce networking event held at Rasmussen College. The topic for this early morning gathering was "Workforce Development ". Rasmussen College is a key part of Workforce development. Thank you Rasmussen for hosting.
September 3rd: Tuesday is weekly County Board and Workshop day. The highlight of our Board meeting was a resolution and presentation on our County Emergency Preparedness.
Our 4X Workshops went into the afternoon. Two workshops were department budget presentations and the other two workshops were on organization structure changes and the County Opioid Epidemic Response.
I finished my day with an Oakdale Tree Board meeting that I am a citizen member of.

June 26th: Farmers market today featuring a Metro Transit Gold Line BRT Booth. 2 to 6:00 PM today. Come check out the transit booth and all the delicious and healthy food items!
June 25th: Very good County Board of Commissioners weekly meeting this morning. Our Board meeting highlight was our County receiving 3 State awards for our parks. After our Board meeting our County Board of Appeal and Equalization met to make final decisions on property taxes.
June 20th: Weather did not dampen the annual Oakdale Summerfest Parade and Celebration. Great turnout and fun time!
June 13th: Reviewing the new Wildwood Library plans with local citizens. It's going to be a much better modern functioning and beautiful library!
June 13th: I was so honored tonight to be the walking guest of "Wellness 50+" a local stay healthy group. It was a fun group of about 20 people walking about 2-3 miles while answering questions about our County.

June 11th: County Board meeting and Workshops today followed by my TAB Transportation Advisory Board Policy Work Group meeting. The highlight of our Board meeting was a public hearing for $32,500,000 in bonding. We also held Workshops on the topics of Corrections, Land & Water Legacy funding, and our County Historical Society. My TAB Policy meeting focused on funding equity and transit.
June 10th: I am honored to be named GMWC Greater Metropolitan Workforce Council Vice-Chair today. Ramsey County Commissioner Toni Carter moves from Vice-Chair to Chair. Commissioner Rhonda Sivarajah resigned her GMWC Chair role to soon become County Administrator for Anoka County.
June 6th: Guest with Commissioner Lisa Weik & Woodbury Council member Andrea Date at the Woodbury Rotary Club to support the Gold Line update presentation.
June 5th: Attended and spoke at tonight's MFAN Metro Food Access Network event. Panel discussion on how to provide healthier food to those in need across our 7 County Region.

March 13th: Attended two MICA - Minnesota Inter-County Association meetings today. The 1st meeting was an Executive Board meeting that I attended in my new additional role as Vice-President of MICA. We discussed process in recruiting and hiring a new MICA Executive Director.

March 12th: Busy Commissioner day. Started with our weekly County Board Meeting, followed by 3 Workshops, A staff Wildwood Library update meeting, Woodbury Mayor meeting, and ended with an Oakdale Tree Board meeting. A very productive and rewarding day!
March 11th: Attended along with Commissioner Miron a Lake Links Organization gathering to celebrate the planned trail around White Bear Lake progress. Good turnout and energy to keep the progress going to reality!

March 1st: NACo Legislative Conference, Day 1 - Full day planned. My primary activity today will be participating on the "Community, Economic and Workforce Development Steering Committee" that I serve on. Local Ramsey County Commissioner Jim McDonough Chairs this national Steering Committee. Great leadership Jim!
February 26th: 2nd consecutive day at the Capitol. Today a visit to the Senate Building to visit Senator Chamberlain and discuss the need and receive support for our next Interchange at highway 36 & Manning Ave. Thank you Senator Chamberlain for your support and County Commissioners Fran Miron and Gary Kriesel for your leadership.
February 26th: Rewarding County Board Meeting this morning. In addition to the Board Meeting Agenda (pic) we recognized Mindy and Sharon from our County Engineering Department who won Professional Awards (pic) and also recognized a generous donation by the Givens family to our K9 Unit (pic). Our Board also had 3 workshops listed on the agenda, followed by myself attending a Gold Line BRT meeting with staff and then a late afternoon visit to the Capitol to visit with State Senator Chamberlain.
February 25th: Washington County Commissioners and Staff made a visit to the State Capitol today for meetings with Washington County Legislators to review our top County funding priority the planned Highway 36 @ Manning Interchange. We also reviewed other County priorities as time allowed. Thank you Senators Karla Bigham, Karin Housley, Chuck Wiger and Representatives Peter Fischer, Tou Xiong, Linda Runbeck, and Shelly Christenson for taking your valuable time to meet with us.
January 24th: This year I return to the Ramsey/Washington Recycling and Energy Board. Today was our 1st Board Meeting of 2019. This collaborative effort to reduce landfill dumping and capture waste by recycling or turning into energy is a success story and also work in progress!
January 23rd: GOLD LINE BRT Bus Rapid Transit meeting today with our County Staff and our Metro Transit Gold Line Development Team. Positive progress being made to bring Transit to Washington County.
January 22nd: Busy day - started with morning County Board Meeting and Workshops and ended with an evening Legislative Reception Meeting with our County Board, Staff, and Legislative body that represents Washington County. We reviewed our County priorities with our State Legislators. It was a very productive meeting.

January 16th: Today was all about roads for Washington County! This afternoon at my TAB Transportation Advisory Board meeting I was working in the infancy stage lobbying for funding to build a Helmo-Bielenberg bridge over I94. Then tonight I attended a City of Willernie Council meeting to review final details for a new city main street CSAH 12 planned to start contruction this summer. Getting roads built takes persistent over years from the beginning planning and finding funding stage to the final details and construction.
January 15th: Our County Board participated in the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting for our new Health Partners Well@Work Clinic. This County Employee Health Clinic will provide comprehensive and convenient Government Center location health care while driving our overall County health costs down. As Board Chair I was proud to give some opening comments. Healthy County Employees are productive employees!

January 14th: Attended my GMWC Greater Metropolitan Workforce Council meeting this morning. One of the meeting highlights was the announcement that we have 4 finalist for our Executive Director Position.

January 11th: Yesterday was our Gold Line Partners Commission meeting. I was proud to be re-elected Chair for 2019. Our partner members are making good progress developing a top quality Bus Rapid Transit line to provide service to the east metro.
January 10th: A lot of Swearing In Ceremonies this week. Tuesday evening I attended the Oakdale City Council meeting to witness the swearing in of re-elected Mayor Paul Reinke and newly elected Council Members Colleen Swedberg and Susan Olson. I wish the Oakdale Mayor and City Council great success and I look forward to working with them and there city staff.
December 8th: Big turnout at the Oakdale Indoor Market this morning. Great gift choices or things for yourself and family. I attended for these reasons but in addition was here to promote our Metro Gold Line BRT booth. Thank you Liz Jones for taking time from your Saturday to run the booth and answer citizen questions.
December 8th: Last evening (Friday) I had the honor to read and participate in a Christmas Tree Lighting and Remembrance Event. It was a very nice event and well attended on a beautiful chilly evening at Triangle Park in Mahtomedi. Thank you Michelle Stiepan my long time friend organized the event with her wonderful family participating. A generous sum of money was raised for the Mahtomedi Area Food Shelf.
December 6th: Commissioner Miron, myself, and our County Staff attended a meeting with the Mahtomedi St. Andrews Church Council this evening to discuss the details of the new rebuilding of CSAH 12 (Stillwater Rd) through Mahtomedi and Willernie starting in 2019. This road is the shared boundry for Miron and my districts. This meeting went very well and we expect St. Andrews will soon formally sign-off support for this road rebuild project.
December 6th: Oakdale Area Chamber of Commerce Luncheon today. Highlight of this holiday luncheon meeting was a wonderful performance by the Tartan HS Choir.

November 1st: Today is Chamber Day! Attended the monthly OACC Oakdale Area Chamber of Commerce Luncheon. A highlight of the luncheon was a "Annie" Play performance by Tartan HS. Pic 4 & 5. I am proud to announce my OACC endorsement.

October 29th: Proud to announce another business endorsement. This one is from SPAAR. A priority for me as a Commissioner is to keep our County a desirable place to buy property and live. SPAAR has recognized my commitment. Today, alongside other endorsed candidates I participated in a meet and greet luncheon and panel discussion.
October 29th: My Granddaughter's dressed up as "Grandpa's Campaign Managers" this past weekend, for their Halloween festivities. What a welcomed surprise, while in the home stretch of a positive campaign!

October 28th: Today I am announcing another Labor Endorsement. I'm proud of the wonderful workers of AFSCME and their support. Also, today I attended with my family the Oakdale Chamber Business Showcase. I helped in our 622 Education Foundation booth with my daughter Kelly Reykdal. We are both Foundation Board Members.
October 27th: A lot of old unused medications dropped off so far this morning. Not to late to check your home or a loved one home to safely dispose of unused and potentially dangerous prescriptions and medications. This special site is open till 2 PM. Accepting drop-offs from any person including persons from outside Washington County. Can't make it here today, check our County website for other permanent drop-off locations.

October 19th: Managing water quality, for now and well into our future, is critical to our Washington County quality of life. One of the ways to accomplish this is working with our Watershed Districts. Yesterday I met with two people that manage water in our District 2. South Washington County & Valley Branch Watershed Districts. Myself and staff reviewed their plans and budget for 2019 and also reviewed future years. I take water quality and it's management very seriously.

October 14th: This morning was our Education Foundation Fun Run and it was a wonderful event held while snow was lightly coming down made for a beautiful background throughout the Preserve. Over 60 participants raising money for education. Great effort by our board helping at the run and a special shout out to daughter Kelly for chairing this event!
October 13th: This morning I participated in our annual Buckthorn removal effort. This year the effort was in Oakdale Nature Preserve Park. It's always a great experience working alongside our youth, Master Gardeners, and Staff to get so much done. See pics. The rest of the day till dark was spent door knocking.

October 9th: A big Commissioner day for me. I started the day having the Privilege and honor as County Board Vice Chair to move into the Chair role and lead the weekly County Board Meeting and Workshops. This was today's schedule of activities.

October 6th: A special shout out to my incredible wife Linda and our entire family. They all are so supportive of my public service and everyone puts in a big effort to help with my re-election.
October 4th: Attended the Oakdale Planning Commission meeting to support County staff as the Mills Fleet farm property Plat was approved by the Commission as a step in the process of moving the 36 @ Hadley Interchange closer to happening.
October 4th: Today at the OACC Oakdale Area Chamber of Commerce Luncheon I formally received the Chambers endorsement for County Commissioner. To date, I have many business and labor endorsements in support of my re-election effort. It's rewarding to have built so many positive relationships, over time. Thank you for your continued support.
September 26th:A couple great events this evening. Currently finishing up at the Yellow Ribbon Network Burger night fundraiser to raise money for deployed troops and their families. Tonight's sponsor was friend Scott Mueller. Organizer Chuck Haas does a great job! I also had the privilege of meeting retired Major General Jon Trost. What a great turnout for Burger Night and the cause.

September 24th: Today was an honor joining Congresswoman Betty McCollum, Stillwater Mayor Ted Kozlowski and Council Member Mike Polehna, Wilderness Inquiry, and Students canoing the St. Croix to celebrate and commemorate the 50th year anniversary of the National Wild and Scenic Rivers Act. As a County Commissioner I am committed to clean water and our environment.
September 20th: Wonderful County Sheriff's Office Recognition Ceremony this evening. So many worthy officers and citizens giving the extra effort to save lives. Congratulations Sheriff Dan Starry and your committee for organizing such a meaningful event.

September 13th: As a County Commissioner I believe it's very important to support worker health. A healthy worker is happy and productive. To support good health, our County workforce participated in a Wellness Event at Lake Elmo Regional Park. There were many fun events and educational booths. I had the honor of being the starter for the Kids Fun Run! It was very enjoyable spending time with our Great County Workforce at this event. I like to spend time with our Workforce whenever I have the chance.
September 12: It was my honor to attend today "Leaders in Local Government Awards Luncheon". Hosted by the St. Paul Chamber of Commerce. A highlight was, Woodbury Mayor Mary Giuliani Stephens was recognized as the Elected Official of Note - for her years of dedicated Mayor and City Council services to not only Woodbury, but the entire region. Also, many cities were recognized with Awards for innovative Government efficiencies and services. The luncheon was sponsored by many local Chamber of Commerces. I am very proud to be indorsed for Washington County Commissioner re-election by the St. Paul Chamber of Commerce PAC.
September 11th: So many fun and meaningful community events in Washington County District 2. Met City Council Members and mingled with families. The youngers and adults could touch and sit in the seat of the many big and important rigs and vehicles. Everything from County water safety to earth moving. The kids may have even been inspired to a career? Free Ice Cream was a hit!

September 9th: As an elected official I believe it's very important to support community causes and local businesses. Tonight Linda and I attended the Tartan High School Volleyball Spaghetti feed fundraiser. For teams to be able to raise funds they need sponsors for their events. For this event the Wild Boar stepped up to help the Volleyball fundraiser be very successful. I really enjoy myself being out in our community and supporting causes.
September 9th: I was very pleased with my performance at this past Thursday's Candidate Forum for the Washington County Commissioner District 2 seat sponsored by LWV League of Women Voters. The Forum was televised by South Washington County Cable. Look for replays. I believe I made a strong case for my re-election, because of our continued high quality of life in Washington County and my vision for a positive future. A special shoutout to my family for attending the Forum and for your strong support for my re-election.

August 30th: We have excellent and convenient retail and service choices in very close proximitry in district #2. Within 2 hours I renewed my license tabs, HyVee prescription pick up including a few groceries, and also lunch at Duc's while oil change and tire rotation at Tires Plus was being done. All these stops had friendly and prompt service!
August 30th: This morning our County Board and Staff toured our wonderful Regional Big Marine Park Reserve. The purpose was to evaluate for possible park land acquisitions and improvements. An important role of a Commissioner is to vision decades ahead and act on plans for our future.
August 28th: County Board Meeting and Workshops Day. See agenda. Highlights were televised budget presentations by Community Services, Public Health and Environment, and Minnesota Extension. Following our meetings was an annual Attorney's Office Picnic. The picnic was well attended and very fun even though rainy weather moved the picnic inside. See pictures
August 23rd: Today was a well attended Ribbon Cutting for new Woodbury "nekter" Juice Bar. Very delicious and healthy choices. Owners Kris and Meranda and their staff are wonderful. Woodbury Mayor Stephens and the Woodbury Chamber created a very nice event and welcoming. See pictures

August 20th: Attended a wonderful Washington County Ribbon Cutting Ceremony opening the Point Douglas Regional Trail Bridge. This trail in Washington County follows the beautiful and natural Mississippi River connecting our County to Dakota County, also connecting Wisconsin and the cities of Hastings and Prescott. I participated in the planning and support of this project from it's inception while serving on the Parks and Open Space Commission thru final approval and build of this pedestrian bridge. Many elected speakers. Commissioner Jack Lavold did a great job speaking and representing our Washington County Board.
August 17th: Just completed a 2 day AMC Strategic Planning Retreat and AMC Board of Directors meeting. It's always beneficial to share ideas and learn from other state wide County Commissioners. See agenda and retreat pictures.
August 16th: No idle time since my Primary victory about 30 hours ago (cute vote picture of granddaughter Hadlee) Yesterday the day after starting at 7:00 AM I started pulling all my campaign signs to give residents a sign break for a while (always seeing great community indicators along the way such as friends Johnson family little library on Olson Lake Trail/CSAH 13 - see picture). Stopped for a afternoon TAB Transportation Advisory Board Meeting - see agenda. Resumed all sign pulling till complete at 6:00 PM. Then end of the day drive to Duluth arriving at 10:00 PM for my day and a half AMC Association of Minnesota Counties Strategic Planning Retreat - see agenda. Life is good!

August 13th: Today: GMWC Greater Metropolitan Workforce Council meeting. It's very rewarding working as a region to meet the workforce challenges of today and develop a Workforce for tomorrow.
August 9th: Attended the County Sheriff Office sponsored "Cops & Cones" event on Tanner's Lake. Beautiful evening and great community turnout. The kids really liked our Sheriff Starry and our Deputies.
August 9th: #TBT Throw Back Thursday - In 20 years I have come a long way since my 1st City Council campaign signs, hand painted and made of heavy plywood, to my plastic Mayor signs and now my smaller plastic County Commissioner signs. During these elected years I have worked with so many wonderful citizens and elected leaders to accomplish a lot covering a wide range of topics involving our environment, parks, development, economic, and employment to name some broad categories. "Together, we have accomplished a lot". Let's continue this progress together! I ask for your Primary Election vote next Tuesday August 14th!!

August 7th: National Night Out 2018 was a great success. I really enjoyed getting to 14 neighborhood partys and meeting so many nice residents of district 2. A long the way I attended Oakdale Mayor Reinke's party, ran into Sheriff Starry, Chief Deputy Mueller, Oakdale Council Member Landis, and a honored military service man.

August 6th: It's great having so many local businesses to support in Washington County District 2. Today, I had lunch at one of my long time favorite places Duc's. I have been going to Duc's since they started in Maplewood. Please check it out!
August 2nd: This afternoon I attended our Met Transit Gold Line CMC - Corridor Management Commission meeting. We have a great team and project development is positively moving ahead.

August 1st: It was an honor today attending along with our other County Commissioners the Senior Volunteer Recognition Event at the County Fair. So many wonderful senior Volunteers attending.
July 31st: Very good turnout of citizens wanting to learn about our water and get an update on the 3M settlement and it's future steps.
July 30th: Tonight on the campaign door knocking trail besides meeting many new citizens and long time friends I came across many extra enjoyable moments such as a good Samaritan painting the fire hydrants a fresh color of bright red and passing parks such as Eastside tonight. Hope to see and visit with many more residents in the coming days. Vote on Primary Day August 14th!

July 11th: This afternoon was wisely used on a 4 hour St. Croix River boat outing with area water experts and elected learning how to protect the magical St. Croix River and other water resources throughout Washington County.
July 10th: Stopped in to see the new summer kids reading program "Star of the North". Light turnout but it is growing in popularity. While there took in the "Dog Gone Reading" program for kids practice reading to therapy dogs. See 3X pictures. Coin Club also going on. A lot even in the summer going on at our County Libraries.

June 28th: Citizen open house for the rebuild of Stillwater Boulevard (County highway 6) from Century Ave (State highway 120) to Granada Ave. pretty good turnout to learn the project details. This road rebuild is a joint project between Washington County and the City of Oakdale.
June 15th: Today, Tuesday June 26 was our weekly County Board Meeting and Workshop. The highlights of the day was recognizing Sheriff Dan Starry for his 25 year County Employee Anniversary and his record of providing outstanding service and leadership to our Community during these 25 years! Also recognized was Washington County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Brandon Yetter selected by the Lakes Center for Youth and Families to be the 2017 recipient of the James Trudeau Law Enforcement Award.

June 21st: Gold Line BRT Bus Rapid Transit Tour day of Transit projects under development in the cities of Brooklyn Park and Minnetonka. Thank you to our County Staff in Washington County, Ramsey County, and Metro Transit for organizing the tour and to the city staffs and city councils in the cities we visited for hosting. We learned a lot about the do's and some don'ts in planning our own BRT project.June 21st:

June 7th, 2018: It was an honor this morning discussing our County on "Eggs & Issues" sponsored by OACC Oakdale Area Chamber Commerce. I shared the 1,5 hour discussion with Oakdale Mayor Paul Reinke. Marc Cove from OACC hosted. Look for roplays on local cable SCCTV. It was a very lively, fun, and informative discussion!

March 26th, 2018: Today's focus: Roads, Bridges, and Transit
This morning - Participated in a meeting at State Senate Office Building hosted by State Senator Chuck Wiger to review road and bridge projects in Chuck's District 43 that includes much of my Washington County District 2. Representatives from MN DOT, Mahtomedi, Maplewood, North St. Paul, Oakdale,and Ramsey County we're also present. See group picture and agenda.
Tonight - Participated in a Community meeting at Oakdale City Hall to gather citizen input into planning the Helmo at 4th St. Bus Station for the planned Gold Line BRT under development. See pictures.

This afternoon Retirement Recognition of County Employee Judy Hunter and saluting her leadership with Waste and it's evolution to a energy and recycling resource.

February 15th, 2018: I love my diverse duties as a Washington County Commissioner representing 8 cities and constituents. This morning I met with County Staff to review the planned road redesign and rebuild of County 12 that runs through the cities of Mahtomedi and Willernie that I represent. In the afternoon I met with the Woodbury staff and Mayor to review current and future plans that require partnerships with our County. I also represents a portion of Woodbury.

February 13th, 2018: Today, in addition to our weekly Board Meeting and Workshop (see agenda) our Board congratulated fellow County Commissioner and Board Chair Karla Bigham on yesterday’s special election State Senate District 54 win. Karla is an excellent Board member that I learned a lot from and also consider a great friend. Our Board will miss Karla but also looks forward to working with her as a State Senator representing Washington County. This was Karla's last County Board Meeting because she is sworn in as a State Senator Feb 20th. (see picture of Board recognizing Karla with appreciation plaque)
February 12, 2018: Love getting out in the community beyond normal Commissioner duties. This afternoon I had the privilege to be the Mystery reader at my Granddaughter Peyton's, Skyview Elementary Kindergarten class. The kids were so well behaved and asked so many good questions.
February 12th,2018: Greater Metropolitan Workforce Council meeting. Working for a stronger regional workforce resulting in adding good jobs and growing companies.
February 8th, 2018: Attending a seminar on best practices for Pollinators. Several of the presenters were from our talented County Staff. I believe we have and always need to work on a good environment in Washington County.

January 30th: Today, in addition to a preparation meeting for a Finance Committee Meeting to be held next week I had the honor to serve on an Election Canvassing Board. After our oath, the Canvass Board comprised of elected and election professionals validated the accuracy of the vote totals for State Senate 54 Special Primary Election held January 29, 2018. I am so impressed with the seriousness and accuracy of our election process in Minnesota.

January 28th, 2018: Tonight attended the community event CAST (Community Against Sex Trafficking). www.castmn.org This well attended fundraiser purpose is to bring awareness and education so our communities neighbor by neighbor can help by being aware and play a role in prevention. Thank you County Attorneys Orput and Choi, County Sheriff Starry, Oakdale Police Chief Sullivan, John Larson and your CAST Board for all being leaders to address this very serious issue.
January 26th, 2018: Out on business retention visits in the cities of Mahtomedi and Willernie this morning and as a special bonus ran into my beautiful God Daughter Nicki who is a hair stylist at a Salon that was one of our visits.
January 25th, 2018: It was great being part of an event recognizing the 50 year anniversary of the Metropolitan Council. Welcome by Governor Mark Dayton. It's was also nice visiting and developing relationships with leaders in our region such as with Met Council Chair Alene Tchourumoff (1st picture)

January 8th, 2018: Participated all morning in my Greater Metropolitan Workforce Council Meeting. Our Council comprised of metro workforce experts and a County Commissioner from each of the 7 Counties in our metro Twin City area is working very hard to develop the best methods for developing a well trained and larger workforce to take advantage of the growing economy and for our Metro's future success.
January 6th, 2018: Wonderful morning attending Town Hall meetings in Mahtomedi and Oakdale. It's always so beneficial in this setting to listen, learn, and interact, with citizens I represent. Our Legislature representatives of Fischer, Lillie, Ward, Kent, and Wiger organized these gatherings. Also participating were Mayors Reinke, Marshall, Emmerson, several city council and school board members, and also Washington County Sheriff Dan Starry.
January 5th, 2018: Workforce Development Today: Meeting with County Public School District Superintendents (picture) to discuss career pathways and how to connect students to a desired career to meet our employment needs in Washington County.
Also, this morning attended a Workforce Development Meeting to address our growing need for trained health care professionals.

January 4th, 2018: Chamber Day! In the morning I attended the Woodbury Chamber of Commerce networking event 1st picture. In the afternoon I attended the OACC - Oakdale Area Chamber Commerce Luncheon with a really good presentation by our County Attorneys Office on initiatives and approaches to prevent sex trafficking in our County. We are a leader in the region with our aggressive preventative approach.
January 3rd, 2018: Attended our Washington County Water Consortium this afternoon. The topic was wastewater treatment. The highlight was a very informative tour of the Stillwater/Oak Park Heights Wastewater Treatment Plant. About twenty water experts attended this tour. Its a high priority of mine to manage waste in a very responsible way while looking for improvements.

December 25th: Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and rewarding New Year.
December 21st: Last Park & Open Space Commission Meeting of 2017 held this evening. Also, included social holiday visiting time.
December 21st: It was a great experience this morning hearing about ISD 622 education initiatives and interacting with Superintendent Christine Green Osorio, her staff, school board members, the private sector, and others elected in the district. In particular as a Washington County Commissioner serving on our Work Force Development Board it was interesting to hear more about our school districts development of career pathways. I look forward to working in the future with the district on career pathway development so students graduate from high school with an interest and direction in a career.
December 20th: Today we had our last 2017 Washington County Workforce Development Board meeting. Our talented and diverse 19 member board works very hard to meet the modern day Workforce challenges. I look forward to working with this board in 2018 to meet the challenges to not only get people in need re-employed but also develop workforce career pathways to meet the growing need of having a qualified workforce available so top companies can expand, start-up, and relocate to Washington County.
December 19th: Participated this morning in our final 2017 County Board meeting. Highlight was approving 2018 salary increases for our County Attorney, Sheriff, and Administrator recognizing these three for there outstanding performance. Again, as in recent years the 2018 County Board of Commissioners salary will not be increased. See agenda
In the afternoon I attended the MAAA - Metro Area Agency on Aging holiday employee appreciation luncheon. I serve on the MAAA 2017 Board. Also, attending was MAAA Board Chair Randy Maluchnik who is a Carver County Commissioner. See picture of us. We both enjoyed visiting with the MAAA employees and giving thanks

December 14th: As a member of the OACC Oakdale Area Chamber of Commerce it was fun joining the Oakdale City Council and Sky Zone staff and customers to celebrate this fun facilities improvements and kick them off with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

December 12th: Big day today. After months of careful review and scrutiny our County Board of Commissioners voted final approval to 2018 Tax Levy's and Budgets
December 11th: One of my County Board assignments is serving on our County Workforce Development Board. With this assignment comes an additional task of representing our County on the Greater Metropolitan Workforce Council. I serve with other County Commissioners and workforce professionals working together on regional strategies to develop a strong Regional Workforce to compete nationally and internationally for the best jobs and businesses. It's an honor working for our citizens and businesses!
December 7th: Attended Century College 50th Anniversary Luncheon. The Theme "Why Talent Retention Strategies Matter". Great presenters from college staff and President Angelia Millender with very good attendee engagement and discussion. Ended the day with a Fab Lab tour. See pictures

December 2nd: Very honored as part of my role serving on the County "Yellow Ribbon Network" to spend time today visiting with Veteran's recently returned from deployment. These veteran's were treated on this beautiful Saturday to a day of game hunting and lunch. Thank you organizer Chuck Haas, guides, sponsors, and Veteran's for your service.
December 1st: Highlights for the last two days in addition to yesterday's powerful Opioids Litigation Press Conference, also met with representatives of the "White Bear Lake Links Trail Group" and participated in "Hennepin Workforce Leadership Council" learning good things about implemented successful career pathways resulting in hired workers. Our County is joining other Counties to hold manufacturer's and distributors accountable for illegal selling and marketing practices resulting in health and cost consequences to our citizens and tax payers by the use of these very addictive drugs.

November 16th: This afternoon our County Workforce Manager and I met with Rasmussen College staff to tour there campus and discuss how there college can deliver more trained workers to help our Washington County economy grow. See pics

November 14th: Last evening with the support of the Oakdale City Council I recognized veteran AJ Moses and presented AJ a veterans cap and County service coin. Also, Last week at the Oakdale/Lake Elmo Prayer Breakfast I was able to recognize Oakdale Council Member Bill Rasmussen. Both these veterans I recognized in a public setting to help give awareness to our Counties Veterans Services staff that will assist all veterans with benefits. If you know a veteran in need direct them to myself or to the information on the card below. If the veteran does not live in Washington County our staff will get them to the assistance they need. Thank you veterans for your dedicated service to our Country!

November 12: Just attended a very nice Veteran's Day Ceremony at Oakdale's Veteran's Memorial

November 9th: Today was another busy and great day to represent Washington County as a Commissioner. These are the highlights and related Pictures:
1. One year ago today I was elected as a Commissioner.
2. Tonight I attended a County Master Gardener Recognition event and was honored to say a few words recognizing there contributions.
3. Attended Gateway Corridor BRT Meeting.
4. Started the day attending a Woodbury Chamber event for orientation of new businesses.

November 8th: Besides attending an early morning veteran's prayer breakfast.
Later in the morning I met with the SWWD - South Washington Watershed District management to review there 2018 budget and future plans.
In the afternoon I met with other County Commissioners that also belong to MICA - Minnesota Inter-County Association to review mutual Statewide County initiatives and goals.

November 8th: Wonderful way to start the day with a prayer breakfast honoring our Veteran's! Keynote Speaker Jerry Molnar sharing his challenging life including losses at the 2001 World Trade Center tragity. Also, Special words from Past Dakota County Commissioner, Viking, and NFL Hall of Famer Paul Krause. It was great to share the morning with our Veteran's and Community leaders. Thank you Russ Barrett for annually organizing this breakfast and asking me to say some things on behalf of our County to the veteran's and audience.
November 7th: Full day today:
1. Morning weekly County Board Meeting and two workshops covering topics on Transit, Library, Recycling, Roads & Trails, and Waste Collection.
2. Afternoon, attended the new Christian Cupboard Emergency Food Shelf building topping ceremony.
3. Lastly, in the evening attended ISD 622 Education Foundation Board Meeting that I am a member.

November 2nd: OACC Oakdale Area Chamber Commerce Luncheon. Business speaker was on Cyber Security. Great performance by the Tartan HS Sister Act play cast. A special shout out to Jodi Christenson and her leadership on the recent very successful Halloween Showcase - see photo board pictures. Lastly, special thanks to luncheon sponsor Quantum Merchant Services.
November 1st: Representing the Northwest area of Woodbury it was great getting out and visiting constituents this evening at the Woodbury Thrives event featuring the theme of healthy lifestyles.
November 1st: Today I attended a meeting to review our draft of the Counties revised "Waste Management Master Plan" that will drive our goal of reaching 75% of waste being recycled or converted to energy.
Also attended a joint meeting between our Ground Water Advisory Committee and our Water Consortium to share best practices for managing water resources.
Lastly, this evening I will be attending a Community Group meeting called "Woodbury Thrives". This group focuses on healthy life styles.

October 30th:This afternoon attended our AMC District 10 meeting. Chair Karla Bigham presided over this meeting comprised of County Board Members from our 7 County area. It's great to be part of this group and collaborate with our other Metro Counties for the greater good of our region.
October 30th: Attended "Open for Business" loan program presentation to Woodbury businesses and Woodbury city staff this morning. We are encouraging and acting on small business growth in Washington County.
October 29th: Can't thank our local businesses enough for hosting our families in the community to celebrate Halloween and Showcase there local business services. Many fun costumes worn by both our residents and businesses. Can't wait for next year's Showcase!
